This is an in-person event. If you would like to attend, please register by e-mailing quantum@goethe.de with the subject line: DARING TO EXPLORE QUANTUM CREATIVITY. Please note that spaces are limited.

How can art help us understand quantum technologies?

This event is an exploratory conversation and performance around the potential of quantum creativity.

The session will be initiated by Prof. Dr. Oliver Benson, a Professor for Experimental Physics at HU Berlin, who will provide an introduction to the world of quantum mechanics.

Visual artist Roman Lipski will present his groundbreaking work on “Quantum Blur,” a novel technique for image manipulation using quantum operations. Lipski’s presentation will serve as a prelude to an interdisciplinary dialogue with Prof. Dr. Tim Schröder, Head of the Integrated Quantum Photonics Group at HU Berlin.

Hannah Schillinger, a Berlin-based choreographer, dancer, and visual artist, will contribute to the event with a performance of her solo piece “screen play.” This performance aims to establish a connection between quantum theory and performance art, offering the audience new perspectives and insights into the principles of quantum physics.

Amy Karle, an artist-in-residence at Studio Quantum will speak about her practice and gain valuable insights into how her multidisciplinary research and work is developing.

To conclude the program, Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost, Head of the UdK Design Research Lab and Vice President of the Goethe-Institut, will offer remarks on the future potentials of quantum technologies and the role of interdisciplinary creativity in this evolving landscape.

This in-person event is a live extension of the virtual colloquium “Exploring Quantum Through Art and Design,” organized by the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) in collaboration with Roman Lipski Studio.

The event is free, registration is required. To book tickets, please email: quantum@goethe.de

This special live edition of the online colloquium “Exploring Quantum Through Art and Design” is by Universität der Künste Berlin, Studio Quantum and Roman Lipski Studio.
